Microsoft India Head steps down
Microsoft India Chairman & Corporate Head Ravi Venkatesan is leaving the software giant and looking for opportunities where he can impact millions in a positive way.
Microsoft Chairman and Corporate head Ravi Venkatesan on February 10, 2011announced that he would step down to pursue opportunities outside the company, but would partner with Jean-Philippe Courtois, President, Microsoft International, to ensure a smooth transition with his successor. Venkatesan, who has worked with Microsoft for seven years now, said that he wanted to step back and reinvent his life, and look to work in completely new directions, including writing a book, which will be released this year.
He said that an announcement for his successor would be made shortly and that he was staying on to ensure a smooth transition, and added that India specific expertise was what was key to the role. He further said that the successor was likely to be someone from outside Microsoft.
In an interview with Wall Street Journal, Venkatesan said, “I have been increasingly passionate about finding the best way to make impact at scale in India. So, I have decided I am going to take a few months off, not plunge into the next big adventure immediately and look at lots of different opportunities. But the common theme I will be looking for is how to impact millions of people in a positive way.”
