The mail also mentions that Roma Datta Chobey will be the interim head for the Large Customer Sales (LCS) team. She is presently the Managing Director for Google India.

“Following Scott’s announcement in May that he would retire and leave Google at the end of this year, we began an extensive and thorough search for our new APAC President – which was led by Scott. I’m thrilled to share the news that Sanjay Gupta our Country Manager for India is now the President of Asia Pacific,” Philip Schindler, SVP & Chief Business Officer at Google, has said in the internal mail.

Gupta took to LinkedIn to share the news of his elevation: "As I start my new role as Google's APAC President, this serves as a powerful reminder of the role we play as an enabler. APAC isn't just any region; it's the heart of global growth and innovation, home to half the world's population and poised to lead the tech revolution.

Scott's leadership and vision has already paved the way for Google’s investments in APAC. We grew our footprint around the region, invested in technical infrastructure, focused on skills development and partnered with the technical and scientific community in the region to support APAC’s prowess.

I am humbled and excited to build upon this incredible momentum. APAC has tech savvy users, skilled human capital, a thriving developer and start-up ecosystem, and governments that see AI as a path to economic growth. I look forward to working with our talented team across the region to harness AI's transformative power for APAC.

And a huge thank you to the leadership team and my colleagues in India for their unwavering passion and commitment. You make all the difference."
