Sundar Pichai has informed employees at Google that more roles will be "eliminated" as the tech giant will focus on new priorities such as Artificial Intelligence.
As per news reports, the email said that the layoffs will not affect every team. Some teams will be required to make "specific resource allocation decisions" and that is likely to impact some roles through the year, the CEO of Google has said.
Earlier this week, the company announced a fresh round of layoffs that left as many as 1,000 employees impacted, especially hardware, digital and central engineering teams.
