In a break from tradition, the D&AD Executive Committee has elected a President from the digital sector. Simon Waterfall, Creative Director, Poke London, will be D&AD’s leading ambassador and spokesperson for the next 12 months, and is the first creative from the digital sector to take on this high profile role.
Outgoing President Tony Davidson will hand over the reigns at the D&AD Presidents’ Dinner at the Royal College of Art in London.
Commenting on this development, Waterfall said, “Over the coming year, I want to use all of D&AD’s communication channels to shine a bright creative light and share a little electricity with our members, clients and the rest of the world. I’m really looking forward to bringing more of D&AD’s amazing content to a wider audience.”
“Throughout D&AD’s 45-year history, Presidents have come from the traditional advertising and design worlds. Simon’s election acknowledges the huge influence that digital media has on both arenas – it has become a creative playground for all disciplines. I wish Simon well for the year ahead,” added Davidson.
D&AD is a not-for-profit organisation that represents the international design, advertising and creative communities.
