Wally Olins, renowned international brand identity and communications guru, has passed away. He was 83.
Olins was Chairman of Saffron Brand Consultants.
Early in his career, Olins became head of what is now the Ogilvy advertising agency in India, where he lived for five years. He had an enduring interest in South Asia.
Olins had been a successful author. Some of the books that he wrote included ‘Corporate Identity’, ‘Wally Olins On B®and’, ‘The Brand Handbook’ and ‘The Shape of Brands to Come’, which was published in April 2014.
He had Fellowships and Professorships at a number of leading business schools and universities around the world, including Said Business School at Oxford University.
In September 2013, Olins was a speaker at the IAA Global Marketing Summit that was in Mumbai in partnership with exchange4media. Speaking at the event, Olins confessed his love for India and also spoke about how emotional factors are key to how one perceives a brand.
