SC warns Patanjali against making false claims against allopathy in its ads

The court also asked the government to come back with a proposal to tackle misleading medical advertisements

The Supreme Court of India has asked Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurveda to not make any false claims against modern medicines and vaccines, according to media report. The apex court was hearing a petition filed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA).

The court reportedly warned Patanjali of hefty penalties, as high as Rs 1 crore, if it continues claiming false cure. will be imposed on it made any misleading advertisements or false claims.

While pronouncing the order, the court also asked the government to come back with a proposal to tackle misleading medical advertisements.

As per the petition filed by IMA, Ramdev’s Patanjali, in July last year, released an ad saying “Misconceptions spread by Allopathy: Save yourself and the country from the misconceptions spread by Pharma and Medical Industry.”
