Apple becomes first US company to reach $2 trillion market cap
The tech giant broke the record when its price rose to $467.77 on a share count of more than $4.275 billion
Tech giant Apple has made history by becoming the first publicly traded company in the US to reach the $2 trillion market cap on Wednesday. The company’s stock surge pushed past the mark, doubling in valuation in just two years to clinch the honour.
Apple broke the record when its price rose to $467.77 on a share count of more than $4.275 billion. However, it failed to maintain the mark as the day moved on. The shares closed at $462.83 with a market cap of $1.98 trillion.
Apple’s stock has more than doubled since its March low, driven by its strong earnings result and buzz around the new product launch – the Apple 5G iPhone.
Incidentally, in July this year, Apple had passed Saudi Aramco to become the world’s most valuable publically traded company.
