R Gowthaman steps down from WPP, GroupM positions

R Gowthaman has decided to move on from WPP and GroupM, as per media reports. He was Global Client Lead at WPP and Global Blockchain Solutions Lead for GroupM, ending his nearly 20-year association.
Gowthaman, who is said to be serving his notice period, is said to be considering options in the Blockchain sector.
He was quoted as saying: “There were two factors. At 50, I thought I should give it one last shot. I didn’t consider the first dotcom boom or the ecommerce boom. And so I thought at least with this technology, I should ride the wave considering the influence of it on our business and what I can do, to add value.”
Gowthaman led Mindshare in South Asia and was also Client Chief Officer for Asia-Pacific.
