New York-based public relations and marketing communications firm, Atwood Partners, is all set to foray into the Asia Pacific region. The firm has appointed Manish Kalghatgi as Managing Consultant for the Asia Pacific region. He will be based in Mumbai. Atwood Partners will commence its Asia Pac operations from June 1, 2006.

DishTV takes the DTH battle with STAR to TDSAT
After failing to successfully negotiate with STAR to bring its channels on its DTH platform, ASC Enterprises (DishTV) has filed a petition against STAR India with the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) alleging it to be consistently adopting ‘dilatory tactics’ and stipulating terms and conditions which are ‘impractical, impermissible and unreasonable’.

In a recently released BBC, Reuters and Media Center Poll on the ‘Trust in the Media’, some of the top-line findings show that Indians have a high level of trust in media. The survey also shows that Aaj Tak is the most trusted news source in India across all print and electronic media news sources and that NDTV is the most trusted English news channel.
DNA commissions E&Y to certify ‘circulation’, gets a mark of 239,019
Close in the heels of the Indian Readership Survey (IRS) 2006 numbers coming to the fore, Diligent Media’s Daily News & Analysis (DNA) have numbers from Ernst & Young (E&Y) to show as well for its circulation. The organisation had commissioned E&Y to arrive at the ‘circulation’ figures of the paper. The period taken into consideration was April 2006.
Sony puts in place its new afternoon band; Jassi finally bids adieu
Continuing with its new programming strategy, Sony Entertainment Television is all set to now launch an afternoon band. Called ‘Nayi Dopahar’, the block extends from noon till 3 pm. Two new shows have been planned for the 1-2 pm time slot, while repeat telecasts of some popular serials will cover the 12 pm to 1 pm and 2 pm to 3 pm slots. The new afternoon block will commence from May 15, 2006.
