Turner deal dilutes NDTV’s presence in entertainment biz?blur=25

Following months of speculation, NDTV and Turner finally announced their decision to enter a deal where Turner would acquire 76 per cent of NDTV Imagine for $67 million. This, combined with the subscription of fresh shares in the company for an addition $50 million, would take Turner’s stake in Imagine to over 90 per cent. NDTV officials inform that the activities of the last two months have made NDTV a “debt-free and a cash rich” company. This move also reiterates Turner’s aggression to be in this space in India.

NDTV has informed BSE that the company has, on December 8, 2009, entered into a conditional agreement with Turner Asia Pacific Ventures, Inc. (TAPV) for sale of most of its indirect stake in NDTV Imagine Ltd, which is held through its subsidiary, NDTV Networks Plc. The total transaction size is $117 million and involves a sale of 76 per cent of NDTV Imagine for a consideration of $67 million together with the subscription to fresh shares in Imagine by TAPV for $50 million.
