Disney+ Hotstar goes live in India ahead of launch date
The new service will now allow Hotstar subscribers to access international content like The Mandalorian, Encore! and Marvel's Hero Projects
In a surprising move, the Disney+ service has gone live in India 18 days ahead of time. The original launch date was set to be around March 29. The launch follows hours after Hotstar was rebranded as Disney+Hotstar. The new service will now allow users to access Disney’s international hits such as The Mandalorian and Marvel’s Hero Projects.
According to a Hotstar spokesperson, "A limited release of the beta version of the Disney+ Hotstar app is currently being tested with a small number of consumers, in preparation for the full-fledged app launch on 29th March."
As per reports, the service has gone live on Wednesday morning. The new update for the app is also being rolled out across platforms, after which the logo will be changed from Hotstar to Disney+Hotstar.
As of now, there seem to be no changes in the premium subscription plans for existing users. They can reportedly avail Disney+Hotstar services on their Hotstar Premium and Hotstar VIP subscriptions.
