Sustaining its attack on China-made apps, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has banned 47 apps, which were variants of the 59 the government had banned in June.

They include Tiktok Lite, Helo Lite, SHAREit Lite, BIGO LIVE Lite and VFY Lite, which were "clones" or lighter versions of the banned ones. This has brought the total banned app count to 106.

Reports suggest that there may be more bans in the offing as the government intensifies the crackdown against the Chinese apps. There were talks of the GOI bringing 254 other apps, which included PUBG, under the scanner.
