“One billion people message with businesses every week," says Gaurav Jeet Singh, Head of Agency Business, India, at Meta, illustrating the scale of this communication trend and the potential for more meaningful consumer engagement on WhatsApp. He adds that WhatsApp is actively working to enhance the interactivity of these business exchanges.
Singh was delivering a keynote address by WhatsApp titled “Do More With Conversations.” during the last day of Goafest 2024 in Mumbai on Friday.
“Efforts by WhatsApp, including driving value, leads, sales and customer engagement among others, aim to transform simple messages into rich, interactive experiences, fostering better customer service and more dynamic business relationships,” he stated.
“Brazil, like India, has got a very strong user base of WhatsApp and they use it to literally buy everything that you could. One of them is Nespresso capsules. Through the WhatsApp, 3 million odd capsules were purchased in a year. Essentially, 30% of these consumers engage with not humans, but bots. This means that it allows you to really efficient returns on business by using WhatsApp,” Singh said.
He also noted that Instagram and Facebook have become discovery engines and WhatsApp allows businesses to reach those audiences very simply and powerfully. “That’s the biggest proposition of the WhatsApp and the meta ecosystem proposition. And all of this is underlined by a strong AI engine.”
Singh also reinforced his claim with numerous anecdotes and examples from various brands. As this platform continues to evolve, such advancements are poised to significantly impact how businesses connect with their customers, enhancing both efficiency and user experience, he said.
