Twitter tests ‘Fleets’ a Stories-like feature that disappears after 24 hours
According to reports, the feature will let users upload ephemeral content that are up to 2 minutes and 20 seconds long
After Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, Twitter is the latest to dabble in ephemeral content. The microblogging site has announced that it will test its own version of ‘Stories’ or content that disappears after 24 hours in Brazil.
Media reports suggest that Fleets won’t be a non-public feature. They can be accessed on visiting the user’s public profile. But unlike tweets, they can’t receive likes or show up in Search or in Moments. They are also non embeddable.
Reports also say that ephemeral content feature is being tested to address one of the most common reasons why people don’t tweet – because they don’t like Twitter’s public nature.
Once launched, users can post videos that are up to two minutes and twenty seconds long. Whitelisted publishers on Twitter can also use videos that are 10 minutes long. Users can also upload multiple Fleets at a time.
