Umang Bedi quits Facebook

Umang Bedi, MD, India and South Asia at Facebook, has put down his papers. He will be associated with Facebook till the end of December.

Umang Bedi, MD, India and South Asia at Facebook, has put down his papers.

Confirming the news to exchange4media, Bedi said, “It has been a phenomenal one and a half years at Facebook. We have achieved massive growth and seen India emerge as the biggest market for Facebook. It has been a very positive ride.”

Bedi will be associated with Facebook till the end of December. When asked about his future plans, he said he would “follow my passion”.

“We confirm that Umang Bedi will be leaving his role and Facebook at the end of this year. He’s built a really strong team and business during his time with us and we wish him all the best,” said Facebook in a statement.

According to a source, Sandeep Bhushan, Director (Consumer and Media), South Asia, is expected to take over his responsibilities in the interim before a permanent replacement is found.

Bedi joined Facebook from Adobe in June 2016. He was the MD (South Asia) at Adobe and was associated with the company for more than 5 years. He has also had stints with Intuit, Symantec and Sun Microsystems
