A call from Down Under

The Australian trade commission is showcasing its country’s creative and technical expertise in film and entertainment at the ongoing Frames, where 11 Australian film-related companies and institutes are displaying their various technologies in film-making as well as taking part in seminars and panel discussions.

Italian consul general and trade commissioner in Mumbai Peter Forby said, “The Australian film production and post-production industry is undergoing significant changes driven by technology. In the past decade, the size of the Australian film industry has tripled. Australia has demonstrated an ability to absorb new ideas, and use them cleverly in the film-making process inspiring filmmakers across the globe to make use of their well-established creative and technical skills.”

Australia has a potent creative environment in film and television and has become a hot destination for leading Indian filmmakers after the frenzied success of movies like Salaam Namaste, Dil Chahta Hai, Soldier, to name a few. Every year more and more filmmakers come to Australia to make the most of world-class locations, accomplished crew, and leading edge post-production facilities. Australia features a huge variety of spaces for filming like tge Warner Roadshow Studios at the Gold Coast, south of Brisbane; Queensland, Fox Studios in Sydney, NSW Central City Studios in Melbourne. Moreover, with federal tax incentives and various state incentives, international production companies can put more of their budget on screen with the assistance of Australian production expertise.

Some of the participating companies and institutes are Flying Fish Corp, Nothin But Shorts, Joomalid Media, DVD Trivia Games, Films and Casting Temple, Cinelex, Xtra Research, Victoria University, Sydney College of the Arts and RMIT University, and the Sydney University of Technology.
