Bombay HC gives Patanjali a week's time to pay ₹50 lakh for violating court order
The matter will be heard further on July 19
Patanjali, the brand of Baba Ramdev, has been asked by the Bombay High Court to deposit Rs 50 lakh for violating the court’s order to halt the selling of its camphor products.
The court said in its judgement order that such persistent breach of the injunction order cannot be tolerated by this Court. Accordingly, it is appropriate to direct Patanjali to deposit in this Court, within a period of one week from the date of this order, a sum of Rs. 50 lakh.
The Court also admitted that Patanjali had itself admitted supply of camphor products after the injunction order. It also noted the submission that products were sold even after June 24, according to media reports.
The matter will be heard further on July 19.
In another fiasco, Patanjali was questioned by the Apex Body on July 9, Tuesday whether it has taken steps to ensure that its misleading advertisements on social media platforms were taken down.
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) told the SC that it issued apology letters for comments made by its President Dr. RV Asokan against the Court in the misleading ads case.
