Patanjali Atta Noodles come under FSDA scanner
Food Security and Drugs Administration (FSDA) has found a sample of Patanjali Atta Noodles’ tastemaker containing high amounts of ash, according to media reports
Last year when Patanjali Ayurved launched its instant-noodles in an attempt to take on then market leader Maggi, which went off-shelves for five months, it didn’t get approval from the Central food safety regulator FSSAI. The Haridwar-based company didn’t pay heed and went ahead with the launch. But recently it again came under radar by Food Security and Drugs Administration (FSDA) based out of Meerut who found a sample of Patanjali Atta Noodles’ tastemaker containing high amounts of ash, according to media reports.
The tests were carried out on samples of Patanjali Atta Noodles, Maggi and Yippee collected from Meerut this February. Ash content found in all three was high, all of which failed the test. But its content in Patanjali Noodles is reported to exceed the prescribed limits by nearly three times (2.69%) and was highest among all three brands.
The permissible limit for ash content is 1%.
The news is also doing rounds on social media including Twitter and Facebook.
