Relationship with Virat Kohli is long-standing and continues: Puma
Virat Kohli was rumoured to have partnered with Agilitas
Puma India’s Managing Director Karthik Balagopalan has confirmed that their relationship with Virat Kohli is long-standing and continues. The clarification came after some media reports claimed that Kohli has ended his eight-year long relationship with the sportswear brand. He was rumoured to join sports brand Agilitas instead. Agilitas is co-founded by Abhishek Ganguly, the former Managing Director of Puma India.
It was reported that if the suspension of this endorsement deal was true, it would mean an end to a Rs 110-crore deal which started in 2017.
Puma India’s partnership with Kohli has proven to be very fruitful over the time. In the past, Puma India also signed a sponsorship deal with the Royal Challengers Bangalore team in the IPL, which Kohli is also a part of.
The German sportswear brand’s association with the Indian Cricket Captain led to 10 percent of its sales in the country in 2019, as it reported an overall 23 percent in revenue growth.
When e4m reached out to Ganguly, he said, “I have no comments and would refrain from commenting anything about this”.
