Tiger 3: Auto brands ride with Salman Khan-starrer
Brands like Mercedes, BMW, Jeep, Range Rover, and Volkswagen were seen in action sequences along with Khan
The highly anticipated Salman Khan movie Tiger 3 hit the theatres during the Diwali weekend, cashing in on the positive audience sentiments associated with the season of celebrations. The family entertainer turned out to be a crowd puller, collecting Rs. 318 crore globally till now. Stars like Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi have lent their heft to the latest edition of the Tiger series.
Apart from the glitz, glamour and grandeur typical of the Tiger series, the film also saw top automobile brands that were enmeshed into the storyline. For marketing and auto enthusiasts, the film turned out to be a treat in brand integration.
As part of the quintessential action series, Tiger 3 has high-speed car chases, making the film an ideal vehicle for automobile brand integration. Among the brands that stole the spotlight were Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Jeep, Range Rover, and Volkswagen. While tech brands like Apple were also integrated into the scenes, they didn’t enjoy the same amount of screen time as the automobile brands.
There were multiple cameos of Mercedes-Benz. BMW was featured in an elaborate action scene featuring Khan. At one point, Khan’s character Tiger also waxed eloquent about the car’s features such as class, speed and swiftness. Jeep and Range Rover were also featured in a couple of scenes.
It’s interesting to note that while brands like Bisleri have announced their partnership with Tiger 3, none of the automobile brands integrated in Tiger 3 have openly disclosed their association with the film despite being prominently featured.
Many Bollywood movies in recent times have gone huge on product placements where brands are incorporated seamlessly into the movies’ content. While this mutually benefits the filmmakers and the brands, the latter can get better exposure for its products thanks to the captive audience and manipulate viewer perception about the brand.
Movies like Tu Jhooti Main Makkar, Jawan, Pathan and Netflix’s Darlings have succeeded in recent times to weave brands seamlessly into the storyline in a way that resonated with the audience.
