HUL reports 21.2% rise year-on-year in Q2 net profit

Hindustan Unilever Ltd. has reported a 21.2 per cent rise in Q2 net profit on a year-on-year basis to Rs 1,848 crore, as per media reports.
The consumer goods major’s quarterly profit has met estimates although the growth in volume has not picked up.
HUL’s revenue has gone up 6.7 per cent to Rs 9,852 crore, while the estimate was for Rs 9,752 crore.
The volume growth has been 5 per cent in the July-September quarter.
Sanjiv Mehta, HUL Chairman and Managing Director, was quoted by media reports as saying that the demand in rural areas is expected to “remain under pressure”.
The company’s operating income has risen 21 per cent to Rs 2,443 crore in the July-September period, while the estimate was for Rs 2,191 crore.
