IRS Q2 2010: Daily Thanthi shows growth amid declining AIRs among Tamil publications
The Indian Readership Survey (IRS) Q2 2010 data for Tamil publications shows market leader Daily Thanthi recording a marginal growth, even as the Average Issue Readership (AIR) of other Tamil dailies and magazines has dropped. Daily Thanthi leads the Tamil dailies with an AIR of 7,402,000 in this round. The AIR of both Dinakaran and Dinamalar has dropped.
The Indian Readership Survey (IRS) Q2 2010 data for Tamil publications shows market leader Daily Thanthi recording a marginal growth, even as the Average Issue Readership (AIR) of other Tamil dailies and magazines has dropped. Daily Thanthi leads the Tamil dailies with an AIR of 7,402,000 in this round, up 0.67 per cent from IRS Q1 2010, where it had an AIR of 7,353,000.
Meanwhile, Dinakaran, the largest circulated Tamil daily, has seen a 2.93 per cent dip in AIR to 5,041,000 in Q2 from 4,893,299. Dinamalar, another Tamil daily, while maintaining its third position with an AIR of 2,887,000, a drop of 3.54 per cent from its AIR of 2,993,000 in Q1 2010.
Among Tamil weekly magazines, the AIR of Kumudam stood at 1,273,000, a decline of 1.93 per cent over the Q1 2010 readership of 1,298,000. The story is no different for another leading weekly, Ananda Vikatan, which has also seen a seen mild dip in AIR from 1,061,000 in the previous round to 1,043,000 in IRS Q2 2010.
Kungumam, another Tamil weekly from Sun TV Group, has recorded an AIR of 906,000 as against and AIR of 951,000 in Q1, a decline of 4.73 per cent.
