CNN-IBN sweeps top honours at Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards
CNN-IBN swept away some of the biggest award categories at the prestigious Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards 2006-07 ceremony that was held in the Capital. Rajdeep Sardesai, Nilanjana Bose, Bahar Dutt and Rohit Khanna were among the winners.
CNN-IBN swept away some of the biggest award categories at the prestigious Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards 2006-07 ceremony that was held in the Capital. Rajdeep Sardesai, Editor-in-Chief of CNN-IBN and IBN 7, was proclaimed ‘Journalist of the Year-Broadcast for 2006-07’ for his exceptional achievements not only as a journalist, but also for successfully leading two of the country’s most popular news channels. The awards were presented by Chief Guest of the evening, President APJ Abdul Kalam.
Sardesai said, “I am really humbled on having won this title and am very proud to have been considered worthy of this award by the Ramnath Goenka Memorial Foundation. This would not have been possible without the team at CNN-IBN.”
CNN-IBN’s Nilanjana Bose won the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award for ‘Uncovering India Invisible-Broadcast’ for the show ‘Living Positive’, which is a half-hour news feature on India’s HIV/AIDS orphans. Bahar Dutt was conferred the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award for ‘Environmental Reporting-Broadcast’ for her story on the ‘Last Dance of the Sarus’.
Rohit Khanna from the CNN-IBN’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) won the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award for ‘Political Reporting-Broadcast’ for a special investigation on ‘Netas for Sale’. CNN-IBN’s SIT exposed certain MLAs and ministers in Uttar Pradesh, who were ready to do anything for a price.
