FreeDish MPEG-2 auction: DD rakes in Rs 42 crore with sale of 2 slots
Both slots have been secured by Manoranjan TV Group for its general entertainment channels - Manoranjan Grand and Manoranjan TV
Prasar Bharati has allotted two slots on day one of the ongoing e-auction for MPEG-2 slots of DD FreeDish DTH platform. The slots are being allotted for one year, from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025.
Sources close to the development have confirmed that on Day 1 of the Free Dish auction only two channels secured the slots for Rs 21.25 crore and Rs 21.15 crore, respectively, in Category A+ (Hindi GEC).
According to information available with e4m, both Free Dish slots have been secured by Manoranjan TV Group for its general entertainment channels - Manoranjan Grand and Manoranjan TV.
The reserve price for General Entertainment Channels (GEC) - Hindi or Urdu - in Bucket A+ was fixed at Rs 15 crore. The e-auction began on Monday evening and will continue today as well.
Last year, Prasar Bharati collected more than Rs 100 crore from the same category, which had six slots.
