KPL viewership for first three matches up by 60%: BARC

According to BARC data, the average impressions for urban viewers across India in 2018 are 353.1 million, compared to 220.7 million in 2017

The seventh edition of the Karnataka Premier League (KPL), a T20 tournament that started on August 15, has witnessed a 60 per cent growth across India for the first three matches as compared to last year, according to BARC data. Karbonn KPL is a local tournament run by the Karnataka State Cricket Association that gives a platform to budding cricketers. Star Sports is the official broadcaster of KPL 2018.
The average impressions as measured by BARC for urban viewers of the league across India are 353.1 million in 2018, compared to 220.7 million in 2017.   
As per the BARC data shared by the channel, the viewership of the tournament among urban viewers has grown in Karnataka as well, by 17 per cent. The average impressions for the first three matches in Karnataka is 67.4 million in 2018 as compared to 57.4 million in 2017.

The league will be played until September 6. Star Sports believes that the telecast will garner more fans for the league as they will get to witness the matches and listen to the commentary in their preferred language.

KPL can be watched on Star Sports 2 and Star Sports 2 HD in English. The Kannada commentary is available on the audio button of select operators in Karnataka.
