Entertainment giant, Viacom18 recently completed 10 years of being in business. Mukesh Ambani, Chairman& MD of Reliance Industries, who was present at the grand celebration to ring in Viacom18's 10 anniversary shared his insights about the entertainment industry, Jio and his principles for success.
“It has been three years that Viacom18 has been part of the Reliance group,” he said speaking about how the entertainment giant over the years has won hearts through their compelling storytelling. Ambani said that with the responsibility of winning hearts of 1.3 billion viewers through the power of stories, the group should continue being significant in the life of viewers. “It’s not about being the biggest because we’ve already done that but having a significant impact in the lives of our viewers,” he revealed.
Sharing Jio’s accomplishments, he said, “I think that what we have achieved with Jio is that we have taken India in the last four years from 155th in the world to number one in the world in mobile data consumption.” He also said that in the next 10 years, the digital and entertainment industry in India is poised to grow manifold.” In fact this next decade will be the golden period of the entertainment industry,” he said.
Ambani also shared his principles of courage, dreaming big, curiosity and empathy. “Empathy is required. It’s not just about yourself self but about everyone else,” he said. Speaking about the entertainment giant’s growth potential over the coming years, he said, “I think with the synergies that can come in from the talent from all the 1,500-strong Viacom18 family and digital distribution, there is no limit to growth.”
