The new amendment will impact equilibrium among industry stakeholders: Megha Tata

Speaking on the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's (TRAI)’s recent amendments to Tariff Order, Interconnection Regulations and Quality of Service Regulation of 2017 for the broadcasting and cable services sector, Megha Tata, Managing Director, Discovery – South Asia raised her concerns at IBF Press meet and said, “The warrant TRAI to fix cap on prices, cap on discounting and cap on the number of bouquets one can count. The new amendment also begs a question: has TRAI considered the feedback of all the broadcasters before coming out with this amended order?

She further added, “A progressive policy framework must be impartial to all the stakeholders in the ecosystem. The new amendment will impact the equilibrium between the stakeholders in the media industry. So we are here to express our concern as the future of this sector is in jeopardy with such micro-regulations.”
