According to BARC India, the top five news events that pulled in viewers in Week 3 were Israeli’s PM India visit, Ceasefire violation LOC, the much talked about film Padmaavat, Supreme Court Judges versus Chief Justice and the AAP MLA of profit case
The first month of 2018 has been filled with news of international and national importance. According to Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, the top five news events that pulled in viewers in Week 3 were Israeli's PM India visit, Ceasefire violation LOC, the much talked about film Padmaavat, Supreme Court Judges versus Chief Justice and the AAP MLA of profit case.
In English news space, Republic TV continued to dominate the genre with 736 Impressions (000s) followed by Times Now on the second spot with 557 Impressions (000s) and India Today Television on third spot with 272 Impressions (000s.)
If we look at the state wise market share, TN and Pondicherry recorded the highest share of 13 per cent of viewership followed by Kerala on second with 12 per cent market share. Karnataka too had 12 per cent share. Maharashtra and Goa had 10 per cent share and Assam, NE and Sikkim had 8 percent share.
In Hindi news space, in Week 3, Aaj Tak grabbed the first spot with 1,09,904 Impressions (000s) in overall market whereas Zee News maintained its second position with 1,03,302 Impressions (000s) and India TV stood at number three with 87,246 Impressions (000s.)
In Hindi news rural market, Aaj Tak continued to dominate the market with 47,894 Impressions (000s) whereas Zee News bagged second position in the week with 43,977 Impressions (000s). News Nation stood at number third with 36,871 Impressions (000s.) In the urban market, the ranking remains the same. Aaj Tak came first with 62, 010 Impressions (000s) followed by Zee News on second spot with 59,325 Impressions (000s.) India TV stood at number three with 52,733 Impressions (000s.)
In terms of market share, UP and Uttarakhand consumed more news and they recorded a 20 per cent share. Maharashtra and Goa got 14 per cent. 13 per cent viewership came from Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir. MP and Chattisgarh too contributed 13 per cent and New Delhi contributed to 10 per cent share in Hindi news viewership.
