Bharatendu Kabi - one of India’s senior most Comms professionals - has joined JSW as the Executive Vice President and Group Head of Media & Communications, one of the fastest growing conglomerates in the country with a diverse portfolio spanning Steel, Energy, Infrastructure, Cement, Paints, Defence, Ventures, Mobility, Realty and Sports.

Kabi is a seasoned media and communications professional with nearly three decades of experience in the industry. His LinkedIn announcement reflects both his enthusiasm for this new role and the extensive learning journey that lies ahead. “After being at the forefront of the automotive industry for nearly two decades and earlier in the soft drinks industry for six years, the canvas of learning has got a bit expanded now to Steel, Energy, Infrastructure, Cement, Paints, Defence, Ventures and Realty, with two areas still remaining the same - Mobility and Sports,” Kabi wrote.

He also expressed his delight about joining JSW and highlighted the new geographical and professional frontiers this role entails. This stint marks a significant transition for Kabi, who is relocating to Mumbai after spending his entire professional life in Delhi-Gurgaon.

A former journalist, Kabi’s extensive experience includes a remarkable 19-year tenure at Hero Moto Corp, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s communications landscape. After the separation of Hero from its JV partner Honda Motor Co in 2011, Kabi played a key role in establishing the new Brand identity of Hero MotoCorp in India and across global markets in South & Central America, Africa, Asia, the US, Europe and the Middle East.

Prior to that, he spent six years at PepsiCo, playing a stellar role in its corporate reputation and brand image, driving the narrative through some of the tumultuous phases in the company’s journey in India, including the intensely competitive Cola Wars and the ‘pesticides in soft drink’ controversy that had hit the domestic industry in early 2001-02.
