The IPRA Golden World Awards for Excellence took place in London recently. The International Public Relations Association (IPRA) chose its winners for 2007 from a record number of entries – 403 from 46 countries. The awards for excellence were given to the ‘Golden’ PR professionals during the third annual IPRA Summit, which took place on November 5-6 at London’s Waldorf Hotel.
The Grand Prix Award went to Corporate Voice Weber Shandwick with PSP-One Project for USAID (India) for ‘Condoms: Changing the Perception of the Contraception’. The campaign also scooped up awards in the UN Nominations and NGO Campaign categories.
The IPRA Summit is a significant annual event for communications directors and senior public relations professionals. It focusses on the best ideas of the year from the brightest trendsetters in the industry, and is a source of practical knowledge to help practitioners stay ahead.
“There is no doubt that the IPRA Golden World Awards for Excellence have established themselves as the Oscars of international public relations,” said Michael Regester, Chairman of the judging panel. This year, the choice of the IPRA judges was challenging in comparison with previous years on account of both quality and the huge number of entries in the 21 categories, which shortlisted 107 finalists.
