Pepe Jeans’ new Autumn 04 collection conjures an interesting blend of colour, fabric and style. Pepe has fashioned red and hot pink for the season for ladies and double layered jersey for men giving a macho effect with total comfort. Pepe’s Autumn Winter 04 collection reflects heavy influences of Portobello (origin of Pepe) showcasing trends of art, rock and sports. Men’s Topwear features Shirts in stripes and checks (Rs 749-999) in some unique colours like chillies, sea greens, cookies etc; silky and coloured denim shirts come with a rich array of colours like deep reds, washed indigos, t-shirts with graphics and sweatshirts with images overlapped (Rs 379-899). The denim major has adopted a different appliqué technique and fusion of fabrics giving a truly a one-off look that has become the signature of the PJL’s collection.

Announcing the launch of the Autumn Winter 04 collection, Chetan Shah, Country Head, Pepe Jeans India, states, “It has been our endeavour to provide an entire wardrobe in casual wear comprising of denims and beyond to customers. We have ensured that though our collection is in tandem with the international collection, it also caters to Indian style, sensibilities and preferences.” Pepe brings in the season of 100 per cent cotton jersey and double-layered lightweight to heavyweight knits. The collection is strong on long sleeve t-shirts and sweat shirts, used in conjunction with heavy four-by-two ribs for cuffs and necks. There is also an attractive combination of washed denim and flat-knits.

The main attraction of the jackets is the leather bike jackets (Rs 1,199-3,499) with a macho and urban look. The winter jackets are a mix of lightweight to heavyweight jackets with detachable linings, hoods and sherpa linings available in real exciting bright colour combinations. The denim bottom’s collection has wide variety in terms of fabrics, washes and, of course, the styling. The highlight of the overall collection is fusion of fabrics. Denims in structured denims and cord with big waistbands and new front fastening details – all add to the collection. The fabric is super-pressed to give the impression of pockets. The denim bottoms with lycra in it for the extra comfort which today’s men are looking for, is an added feature of the collection (Rs 1,299-1,599).

Italian washed denims play an important role to fulfil the demand for lighter, softer hand-feel denims. The colours are rich – deep reds and washed indigos. The non-denims are influenced by outdoor survival. The utility pants with large multi-pockets, buckles are true to work wear roots. The colours in charcoal, woody brown, khaki add to the adventure.

For ladies, there are hot pinks and deep reds, which are the dominant colours for the season. The ladies tops are available in a collection of stylish prints (Rs 349-1,199). Club themed and number story t-shirts and polo shirts, chunky jacquard, striped or cable knit sweaters are just the tip of the iceberg. The collection has extensive use of lycra to give that extra stretch to the garment. Shirts in checks and stripes, denim shirts in blue and red, washed denim jacket, winter-wear jacket in washed tussar, suede with varied styles and multi pockets (Rs 399-1,399) are also there.
