IRS 2007 R1 released: Jagran tops again, Saras Salil leads in magazines, TOI tops English dailies
MRUC has released the Indian Readership Survey (IRS) Round 1 data for 2007. There are not too many surprises, as the top publications of IRS 2006 R2 continue to hold their places. Dainik Jagran leads among dailies, Saras Salil is the leader in magazines and The Times of India reigns among English dailies. Almost all publications have registered significant drops.
MRUC has released the Indian Readership Survey (IRS) Round 1 data for 2007 today. The topline that shows the Average Issue Readership (AIR) of various publications, looks very similar to that of IRS 2006 R2 with the top publications in different genres continuing to hold their places. As was seen last year, IRS 2007 R1 too shows significant drops in readership.
Looking at the top five players among dailies, Dainik Jagran, despite a drop, continues to be the leader with a readership of 17,114,000. Dainik Bhaskar follows at 12,514,000. Hindustan is next with a readership of 9,052,000 and Malayala Manorama has a readership of 8,837,000. Daily Thanthi occupies the fifth slot with a readership of 8,351,000.
The Times of India has slipped off the top ten dailies this round, even as the publication is still the leader among English dailies with a readership of 6,781,000.
Among magazines, Saras Salil Hindi is the leader with 4,760,000, Vanitha Malayalam is the second player at 3,067,000. India Today takes the third spot with 2,786,000 and Grih Shobha - Hindi follows with a readership figure of 2,486,000. Malayala Manorama is the fifth player with a readership of 2,294,000.
