Khalid Mohammad quits HT as National Culture Editor
Khalid Mohammad, National Culture Editor with Hindustan Times, has put in his papers to go back to directing, script and book writing, including an authorised biography of artist MF Husain. His last date with Hindustan Times was January 28.

When contacted, Mohammad confirmed the new and said, “I left Hindustan Times, where I was National Culture Editor.” And on the road ahead, he said, “I have written a theatre play, which I will direct, and I am also working on film script. And the third thing is I am writing a book. In fact on two subjects, one of them a fiction, and the other an authorised biography of MF Husain.”
Mohammad, a well-known journalist, editor, film critic, screenwriter and film director, was with Hindustan Times since November 2006, where he responsible for the section called HT Cafe.
Prior to Hindustan Times, he was with DNA as Editor since its inception and was one of the first editors to be taken on the editorial board. Mohammad was looking after films coverage at DNA.
He was also associated with The Times of India as Media Editor and feature writer, before becoming the Editor of Filmfare.
Mohammad has considerable experience in the film industry, having written the stories and screenplays for films like ‘Mammo’, ‘Sardari Begum’ and ‘Zubeidaa’. He had scripted and directed ‘Fiza’, ‘Tehzeeb’ and ‘Silsiilay’. He has also written two books – one on Amitabh Bachchan and other on MF Husain.
