The Joint Industry Body (JIB), which was a combination of members of the ISA, AAAI and the IBF, has dissolved. In its place, the industry members have united to create the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), which would be officially constituted in a couple of months. Pradeep Guha is the Chairman designate of BARC.

DMK-backed Kalaignar TV was officially launched on September 15, after a month-long test run. The channel will offer the usual dose of film and entertainment programmes, and air news thrice a day. Meanwhile, a top source at Kalaignar TV revealed that the Group would be launching a 24-hour news channel soon, and that a music or movie channel was also on the anvil.
