Shyam Steel Industries Ltd, in association with Candid Communication, recently held the first ever Excellence in Journalism Awards in Eastern India. Veteran journalist and renowned author Moti Nandi was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award. Awards were given in categories such as general, business, sports, lifestyle, photography, television and special categories.
Nine FM, Sikkim’s first private 24 hour FM station, went on air from September 25. The FM station would be available to people within a radius of 30 km around capital Gangtok. The station is an initiative from Kolkata-headquartered Chinar Circuits Ltd, which has interests in real estate, hospitality, education, media and entertainment.
