Jet Airways has appointed Abdulrahman Albusaidy as Group Executive Officer. Albusaidy has over 25 years of experience in the aviation industry and was CEO of Oman Air prior to joining Jet. The company has also appointed Sudheer Raghavan as Executive VP-Commercial. Raghavan has joined from the Millennium Copthorne Hotel Group where he was COO.

From 12 companies last year, this year there were 59 Indian exhibiting companies. The event organisers also informed that Reed Midem would be launching an Asian entertainment content market Amazia next year.

In a recent press statement, the Indian Society of Advertisers (ISA) has rejected the Indian Broadcasting Foundation’s (IBF) directive to its members to levy an input cost surcharge of 25 per cent on TV media rates. The IBF, however, remains firm on its decision.

Mathrubhumi Printing and Publishing Co, publisher of Malayalam daily ‘Mathrubhumi’, recently unveiled the logo of its FM station, Club FM, in Kochi. Mathrubhumi holds licenses to operate FM stations in Thiruvanathapuram, Thrissur, Kannur and Kochi. All the stations are expected to go on air soon.

The Government's job is to be a facilitator and not a regulator. Up till now, the Government should have ensured a level playing field as far as rating is concerned. There is no regulatory body to oversee the whole affair. There is no regulatory body like TRAI, which could ensure that the policies are being implemented by the broadcasters. The day-to-day monitoring should be done at this level. What is the use of a content regulator when there is no broadcasting regulator? Someone has to take a holistic view of the whole affair.
