Vehrnon Ibrahim is joining Meow FM as National Programming Head. He takes charge from January 4, 2010 and will be reporting to Ashish Bagga, CEO, India Today Group. He takes over from Priya Baweja, who was National Programming Head till six months back. Ibrahim had put in his papers at Radio One earlier this month after a two-year stint.

Following a board meeting on December 10, 2009, the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) unanimously elected Prof Dhananjay Keskar as Chairman of the Board of ASCI. Keskar takes the mantle from Madhukar Kamath, who has stepped down as Chairman of ASCI. Rajiv Dube and Vikram Sakhuja have been appointed as Vice-Chairman and Honorary Treasurer, respectively.

The Indian print industry, deemed as the second largest in the world, is expected to grow by an average of 14 per cent by 2015. The future will clearly belong to newer mediums like radio, outdoor and the Internet. Pegged as the medium of the future, online revenues alone are expected to touch Rs 18 billion by 2015. Radio is expected to account for 5 per cent of advertising all over India, whereas outdoor advertising, too, is expected to grow up to 17 per cent by 2015.

I would say the biggest challenge for GroupM in India at the moment is talent motivation, because all agencies are under pressure in retaining talent and this is one challenge even we have in India at the moment, and motivating and providing incentives to them. I believe the management challenge is about motivating people who work very hard, when you’ve got very limited goodies to give a handout because financially things have been tight.
