NDS, a provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV, has announced the appointment of Anoop Varma as Director of Sales for India. Varma will be based in Gurgaon and will report to Alan Dishington, General Manager India, NDS. He will oversee all business development, sales and pre-sales activities in India that will include identifying and developing new business opportunities for NDS’ end-to-end pay-TV solutions in cable, satellite (DTH), IPTV and mobile TV markets.

2010 One Show Awards announced; Rediffusion Y&R Mumbai bags two Silvers

The One Club announced the Gold, Silver and Bronze Pencil winners at the 35th Annual One Show. The awards honored the year’s finest achievements in print, television, radio, outdoor, innovative marketing, integrated branding and branded content – and also took a historic look back at 35 years of the finest in advertising. From India, Rediffusion Y&R Mumbai bagged two Silver for its work for SeventyMM in the Collateral: Posters, P.O.P and In-store- Single category.

The industry is being oversupplied with too many agencies doing the same thing. So, we have to find a point of difference. There is no point of discount rates and failing to deliver. My ambition is to build a very prosperous company for long term growth. And we are not going to get that by just offering the same services with the existing competition at cheaper rates. Certainly, many of these new market entrants would do that as their short term strategies to buy some market share.
