India has spent over one month indoors after the lockdown came into effect on March 24, 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic that has been sweeping across the country since March has changed the way we live and work. Video conferences have replaced meetings and our trusty shorts-and-t-shirt combo has replaced sharp suits and ties.
The greatest challenge of working from home is managing domestic responsibilities with professional commitments. But for every cloud, they say, there’s a silver lining. While we are all eagerly waiting for the pandemic to run its course and the lockdown to end, these few weeks have taught us some of the biggest lessons in self-reliance and seek joy from mundane chores like cooking and cleaning.
Industry leaders from the world of advertising, marketing and media share glimpses from their everyday lives, showing us how we can balance domestic and professional responsibilities.
Vikas Khanchandani, Group CEO at Republic Media Network, preps for a meal.
Khanchandani has also penned some verses that sum up our thoughts during the lockdown:
"I miss you Mumbai. I miss your hustle-bustle at every nook and corner, I miss your undying and exuberating energy, I miss your high decibel sounds, I miss your Bhel Puri, Vada Pav, Bhurji and Pav Bhaji available 24x7, I miss your craziness, I miss your mad rush and the overflowing public transport, I miss the walks by your promenades, I miss you my city.
While I enjoy this drive every day and it takes me ten mins to reach home but it was extremely surreal and eerie to be the only one on the sea link for a few days. I hope our city and our country stays safe, heals and is back on its feet.
I look forward to partaking in the hustle bustle and will pause and think of this eerie time when I want to complain about the traffic the next time.
Horn Ok Please."
