Facebook accused of spying on users data
The social media giant has, however, said that the claim has no merit
Under severe criticism for misuse of users’ data following the Cambridge Analytica scandal, Facebook is facing yet another allegation. According to media reports, a new filing in a California lawsuit has alleged that the social media giant collected information on users and their friends through its apps.
The allegations were reportedly made in a filing submitted last week to the superior court. It is part of a suit brought against Facebook in 2015 by a now defunct start-up.
The filing, according to reports, allege that Facebook used several methods including tracking users location, reading text messages and accessing photos.
A Facebook media representative, meanwhile, said the claims had no merit and contented that they do not log people’s call and text history without their consent.
