Ten Sports looking at more than ‘just television’ in Japan and Korea
Taj Television Ltd and The New Media Group have forged a partnership to distribute and market their channels in Japan and Korea. The two companies also intend to develop interactive offerings for consumption on PCs and mobile phones.
Ten Sports, owned by Taj Television Ltd (Dubai), and The New Media Group (TNMG) have forged an alliance to market and distribute their channels in Japan and Korea. The companies also intend to develop interactive content on platforms like PCs and mobile phones in these technologically advanced markets.
TNMG, a digital media platform developer and community media operator in the Asia Pacific region, owns and operates The World on Demand Network, an IPTV platform.
Commenting on the association, Randy McGraw, President, TNMG, said, “This strategic tie-up goes a long way toward our mission of establishing the pre-eminent IPTV and sports community management portal for the growing number of people that are under-serviced by legacy broadcasting, DTH and CATV systems in the markets where they live.”
Under the agreement between the two companies, TNMG will distribute Ten Sports to a target community of 200,000 South East Asian and Sub-continent community members living and working in Japan and Korea. With these countries’ superior infrastructural development in the sectors of broadband and 3G mobile, TNMG will work with Taj Television initially on TV offerings and is planning to develop offerings for consumption on TVs, PCs, and mobile phones.
“We always knew there were more markets for our cutting-edge sports and exclusive programming,” remarked Mark Denton, SVP of International Distribution, TNMG. The two companies also plan to collaborate on novel interactive offerings Ten Sports’ content for consumers. The companies began services in Japan and other East Asian markets in December 2006.
