The Congress has dominated political advertising on TV with a 20% share of ad volumes in Jan-Mar '23 followed by PMK (Pattali Makkal Katshi) with 18% share, according to the TAM AdEx – Political Advertising Report for the period Jan- March’ 2023.
Other parties in the top five who spent on TV include BJP with 15%, DMK with 13%, Jana Sena Party with 10%. As per the report, the top five political advertisers together added 75% share of ad volumes on TV. On print, Congress again led the list with an 18% share followed by BJP with a 14% share. The top two national parties, Congress and BJP, together had 32% share of ad space in Jan-Mar'23. Other parties in top five includes, DMK, Shiv Sena, and Bharat Rashra Samithi.
On Radio, the top five political parties together added 87% share of ad volumes during Jan-mar'23. BJP was on top with 45% share of ad volumes during Jan-Mar'23 followed by Independent Candidate, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, Samajwadi Party, and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena.
The report stated that the ad insertions of the political parties grew by 46% and 44% on TV in Feb'23 and Mar'23 as compared to Jan '23 and Feb'23 respectively. Meanwhile, Political ad insertions in print publications increased by 29% in Mar '23 as compared to Feb' 23.
Whereas on radio, Political Ads on Radio witnessed highest ad insertion during Jan'23.
