STAR Group is continuing with its silence on the restructuring exercise that the company has undertaken. Another detail that has surfaced however is that Fox International, led in Asia by Ward Platt and Zubin Gandevia, would be handling Star Movies and Star World in South East Asia. Sources at STAR clarified the restructuring process would be formally underway in the next few weeks.

Amitabha Datta, President - Dailies at the ABP Group, is retiring after a 33-year stint with the Group. July 24, 2009 is scheduled to be his last day at work. Datta rose from the ranks to the position of President, Dailies, and has been overseeing both ‘The Telegraph’ and ‘Anandabazar Patrika’.

As an industry, we would thrive a lot more if we had one voice when it came to important issues like agency remuneration, pitch fees, even awards. And I am not talking about the ‘fly-by-night’ operators here, but the big guns of advertising. I’m sure everyone has issues. But I’d rather work with the system and address these issues than become a rebel. We also need to be geared to face the digital revolution. We will need people who have different skill sets and aptitude in this context. Mere lip service to this space will not do anymore, we can’t wait for it to hit us, but need to start right now.
