Jagran Prakashan Ltd or the Dainik Jagran Group has released a coffee table book – ‘Jagran Gems’ at an event in Delhi on October 26, 2009. Jagran Gems honours entrepreneurs in Uttar Pradesh. Speaking on the occasion, the Group’s CMD, Mahendra Mohan Gupta, said that this was one of the first books from the Group, and that similar attempts would be seen for different states that have the Jagran footprint.

Among the prominent winners this year are Nandan Nilekani, Chairman of UIDAI; Chanda D Kochhar, MD & CEO, ICICI Bank Ltd; and TN Ninan, Managing Director, Business Standard. Brijmohan Lall Munjal, Chairman, Hero Group, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The newcomers have made no impact on the traditional genre leader, CNBC-TV18, which continues to be the leader, but NDTV Profit is seeing a tough fight to hold on to the No. 2 position.

MIB issues showcause notice to Colors for ‘Bigg Boss – 3’

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) on October 26, 2009 issued a showcause notice to Hindi GEC Colors, taking exception to the content being telecast in reality show ‘Bigg Boss Season 3’. MIB has given Colors five days to reply to the notice. MIB in its notice said that certain parts of the show had “offended good taste and decency and were not suitable for unrestricted public exhibition”.

Air India shortlists 9 agencies for final round of creative pitch

National carrier Air India has shortlisted nine agencies for the final round of its creative pitch. These nine agencies are: Euro RSCG, Crayons, Mudra, DraftFCB+Ulka, Everest Brand Solutions, Dentsu, Lowe Lintas, Saatchi & Saatchi and Grey India. exchange4media had reported in July 2009 that 30 agencies were in the fray for the Air India business. It may be recalled that Mudra, RK Swamy BBDO, Prem Associates, and Thompson Connect are among the agencies currently on the Air India roster.
