IRS 2011 Q2: Mint, HT emerge fastest growing English dailies in Mumbai over last year
It has been mostly a growth story for English language publications – dailies and magazines – in Mumbai as per the IRS 2011 Q2 results. Among top ten English dailies, Mint and HT have recorded the highest growth in AIR, while among top ten magazines, Outlook has reported a growth percentage in three digits.

Big Magic earmarks over Rs 2 cr for marketing of new line-up of shows
Big Magic has strengthened its programming with a new line-up of shows in the humour and children’s genres. The channel will be investing over Rs 2 crore for marketing of these new shows. A 360 degree campaign conceptualised by Purple Focus is also being unveiled. The new line-up of shows goes on air from October 10, 2011.

BEA slams Govt bid to control electronic media
BEA has come out strongly against the move of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to the effect that renewal of permission for TV channels would be considered subject to the condition that “the channel should not have been found guilty of violating the terms and conditions of the Programme Code on five occasions or more”.
UIDAI empanels 5 agencies for Aadhaar campaign in Delhi
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has empanelled five agencies for its headquarters in Delhi to work on the multi-media campaign for Aadhaar. It is learnt that the decision for Mumbai and Lucknow has also been taken. Some of the empanelled agencies in Delhi include Dentsu Communication, Airads, Centum Advertising and Newfields Advertising. UIDAI had called for a pitch for the same in around eight cities.
BCCC establishes itself as the self-regulating code of broadcasting industry
In a recent judgment over an earlier case on format show ‘Sach ka Saamna’, the Delhi High Court has recognised the Broadcasting Content Complaint Council (BCCC) as a competent body to regulate content on television in India. For, the Indian broadcasting industry, this is an important landmark in the course of pursuing self-regulation.

The Broadcast Editors’ Association (BEA) elected its new executive body at its AGM held on October 7, 2011. Shazi Zaman (Star News) has been re-elected as President. Arnab Goswami (Times Now) and Pankaj Pachaury (NDTV) have been elected as Vice-Presidents, while NK Singh (Sadhna News) has been elected as General Secretary and Sudhir Chaudhary (Live India) as Treasurer.
