The US Federal Trade Commission has imposed a $5 billion penalty on Facebook for the Cambridge Analytica scandal, as per media reports.
This comes following an investigation into the case, in which personal information of nearly 50 million users was shared illegally.
However, the penalty is not expected to hit Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook hard. Some rival sections have thus reportedly said the sanctions will not bring any change in the way the social media giant conducts itself.
Facebook has been asked to “reappraise the manner” in which it deals with user data but can still share information with third parties.
