Hashtags such as #DelhiResults, #ManojTiwari, #AAPWinningDelhi, #KamalfattgayaDilliMein,#Rinkiyakepap took Twitter by storm as Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party won 62 out of 70 seats
The social media battle that started a month ago, took its conclusive turn today with a landslide victory for Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi. Hashtags including #DelhiResults, #ManojTiwari, #AAPWinningDelhi, #KamalfattgayaDilliMein,#Rinkiyakepapa were the key trends on Twitter for the Delhi Elections counting day.
People on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook posted hilarious memes as the AAP sailed to victory. #ArvindKejriwal saw 20K impressions, whereas #ManojTiwari saw 12k impressions on Twitter. The Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party won 62 seats of Delhi’s 70 seats, leaving the BJP with just 8 seats.

AAP leveraged the popularity of the party and its members on social media platforms to the fullest. On Twitter, AAP and Kejriwal together have a 21.5 million follower bank while on Instagram it is half a million and upwards of 81 million on Facebook.

Maximum reach on social media doesn’t come for free though. With the highest number of followers on Facebook for the party, in the last 7 days between January 26 and February 1, 2020, AAP spent Rs 392203 on 416 advertisements and in the last one month between January 4 and February 2, 2020, the party spent Rs 4411450 on 536 advertisements. Clearly, the party played on the front foot in the final leg of campaigning.
