Twitter removes blue ticks: SRK, Virat Kohli, Ratan Tata among affected profiles

A meme fest has been unleashed on Twitter ever since netizens started spotting missing blue ticks from prominent profiles

Elon Musk made good on his promise to remove the legacy Blue Tick on April 20 as many celeb profiles were seen without the symbol on their Twitter profiles.

Musk announced the move to remove the blue ticks of non-paying accounts some days ago.

On Thursday, the decision came into effect as the microblogging platform started removing blue ticks from the profiles. The ones affected include profiles of actors, singers, politicians, government officials, journalists, writers and politicians.

Among Indians, profiles of superstars Shah Rukh Khan, Rajnikant, Salman Khan, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan and others have been missing the tick. Politicians Donald Trump, Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal and UP CM Yogi Adityanath have also lost their verified blue tick.

The mark also also been removed from the profile of industrialists Rata Tata and Anand Mahindra who is a prolific Twitter users. Sports stars Cristiano Ronaldo, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are among those who got affected.

Profiles of PM Narendra Modi and Joe Biden still seem to sport the tick.

Musk who has famously feuded with writer Stephen King has been personally paying for King's and American professional basketball player LeBron James' subscriptions.


Netizens have sparked a meme-fest to react to the development.
