Dainik Jagran inaugurated its second edition of Jagran Film Festival (JFF) at Kanpur on July 9, 2011. Jagran Film Festival 2011 gratifies Indian cinema in those regions where cinema of quality and creative excellence are rarely shown. This year, the film festival will be travelling across important cities in the Hindi heartland – Kanpur, Allahabad, Varanasi, Agra, Meerut, Dehradun, Patna, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Lucknow and Delhi.

Meanwhile, Jagran Film Festival has tied up with the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to screen movies from the archives of Children’s Film Society of India. Other sections include world classics, films of NFDC, retrospective of Anwar Jamal (short films and documentaries), and films of celebrities’ choice.

The Mentor Panel of Jagran included Om Puri, Anurag Kashyap, Sudhir Mishra and Raveena Tondon giving their valuable inputs in selection of movies and creating topics for panel discussion in every city. The Panel also plays major role in nomination process of cinema for the JFF Awards in different categories. Later on, all the nominated films are screened in Delhi where a JFF jury panel comprising Satish Kaushik, Lillette Dubey, Amit Rai, Seema Kapoor and Ashok Chakradhar decide on the winners in categories such as Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Music and Best Script.

Jagran Film Festival connects well with higher segments of the society in every city as the selected cinema appeals and attracts qualitative cinema lovers. JFF also aims at developing a culture of qualitative cinema in the Hindi heartland.
