The much-awaited cricketing event of the year, Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 kick-started with a star-studded opening ceremony on April 7. The event saw Bollywood stars like Hrithik Roshan, Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Tamannaah Bhatia, Prabhu Deva, and many others performing at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai ahead of the IPL 11 opener between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.

This mega sporting event has changed the way cricket is played and has become phenomenally popular in India. Social media was inundated with messages, memes, and videos making it even more entertaining.

As soon as IPL 2018 began, Twitterati poured in their emotions and thoughts on the social media platform. Going by the tweets from the audience, the opening ceremony with actor Hrithik Roshan stole the hearts of millions.






Apart from the opening ceremony and the first match between the highly publicised teams, another thing kept them busy and going were the jokes on IPL vs PSL.

According to the media, after Shahid Afridi’s recent comment where he said that he won’t play IPL even if he was invited, many took this war of memes and jokes to another level on the social media platform.






The 11th season of IPL 2018 will last for 51 days, the teams play a total of 60 matches across nine venues.
